Warwick junior golfers dominate

WARWICK junior golf co-ordinator Dave Drewery couldn’t be happier that his club dominates the regional primary schoolboy’s golf team that will contest the state championships.

Warwick juniors Sam McLennan (St Mary’s), Nathan Jones (Warwick West) and Ben O’Dea (Glennie Heights) are in the Darling Downs and South West Queensland primary school team to play at the North Lakes and Redcliffe clubs from Sunday to Wednesday. Dalby player Lawry Flynn completes the four-person squad.

Luke Munro (Assumption) has been named in the regional secondary schoolboy’s side.

Drewery said it was great for the club to have so much representation.

“Our success is due to the program we have in place and the coaching of professional Rob McConnell,” Drewery said.

Munro is competing in the state championships for a second time after finishing 15th last year.

“I am hoping for a top-10 finish and have been practising six times a week in the run up to the championships,” Munro said.
