Polocrosse: State’s best charge to Bony Mountain
POLOCROSSE: It's on. Action starts at 8am today in the Queensland Polocrosse Club Championships at Bony Mountain Recreation Reserve.
There will be 61 games on day 1 as 77 teams play for supremacy in open, mixed and junior competitions.
In the mixed, defending champions Cunningham 1 will play Bauhinia 1 and Warwick 3 in two of today's games.
Warwick 1 is one of the likely top-four in open competition and will play Gold Coast 1 in a 10am game.
Queensland's two World Cup players will be in action on day 1; Trent Collins will play one of his games for Tansey 1 against Gold Coast 1 while Lauren Cant will play at 11am for Cunningham 1 against Bauhinia 1 in the open competition.
All finals will be played on Sunday with the A-grade junior final at noon, A-grade mixed final at 1pm and A-grade open at 2pm.
The best game of the day could yet be at 9.20am when top Warwick and Cunningham junior teams meet.
Cunningham president Bill Kerr said the local derby would be a cliff hanger.
"Our juniors are likely to finish in the top three," he said.
At 5.30pm yesterday, he said the grounds were quickly filling up.
"There are only a few players to come and all should be here by 10pm, this is the most horses we have had on the grounds."
