Steam trains a spectacular sight
THE Southern Downs Steam Railway experienced a wonderful trip to Goondiwindi at the weekend, with more than 50 MG cars following closely at their tail.
Steam Railway committee member Lindsay Mills said everybody enjoyed the experience, both on the tracks and on the road.
"We are not sure who won the race but everyone thoroughly enjoyed the weekend," Mr Mills said.
"Our Sunday trips from Goondiwindi to Toobeah were heavily booked by the people of Goondiwindi and the MG car club."
Mr Mills said he wanted to thank all involved for making it a memorable weekend.
"We would like to thank (Goondiwindi) Councillor David McMahon for his generous support and advertising, also a big thank you to Raylene at the Goondiwindi Customs House for the handling of tickets for Toobeah train trips," Mr Mills said.
"Thanks also to our members who put on a barbecue lunch at Inglewood on our way out."
At Toobeah on Sunday the local kindergarten and nursery school provided the passengers with morning tea and a barbecue lunch.
