Steketee hits major score in Saturday cricket
CRICKET: Jason Steketee has hit the highest score of the season to help steer Maryvale Condamine to a 142-run victory against Inglewood in Condamine Cup cricket.
After going down to Redbacks in their first loss of the season a week earlier, Maryvale regrouped and it was Steketee with 166 who led the way.
The Warwick Mitchell Shield captain is a class batsman and his efforts alone snuffed out any dreams from the Inglewood club to make the A-grade top four.
His score beat the previous best this season of 161 not out by Nick Inmon from the Warwick Hotel Colts team.
Will Gordon made it five wickets for three runs in successive weekends after taking 3-3, including a hat-trick, last week and then 2-0 this week for Maryvale. Shane Hooper was the best for Inglewood with 41 and will be a trump for his team which will now play off for the reserve-grade premiership.
The top four teams play A grade and the rest battle it out for finals positions and premiership glory during the reserve-grade finals series.
SCORES: Maryvale 3-276 (Jason Steketee 166 Will Gordon 46 ) def Inglewood 134 (Shane Hooper 41, Ted Callaghan 22 not out, Will Ole 3-22, Will Gordon 2-0, Andy Ryan and Tom Bourke 2 wickets each). (Scores from WCA)
