Stepping back in time at demonstration day

HUNDREDS rolled through the doors of the Allora and District Historical Society on Saturday.

For the second year running the society held its display and demonstration day.

Lyn Wright from the society said the day was aimed at raising money and opening up to the community.

"We've been running tours to the old church and the Mary Poppins house," she said.

"We want to be able to share history with the community.

"We want them to open up to us as well to help improve our collections, especially the family history."

Mrs Wright said she was pleased with the number of people flowing through the door.

"A lot of people have come to check it out," she said.

The Veteran Car Club members showed off their cars and members of the historical society did demonstrations on the day.
