MY NAME is Jayden Brown and I will be joining the team at the Warwick Daily News this week.

I'm a third-year journalism and public relations student studying at USQ in Toowoomba.

I'll be joining the team as part of a week-long internship that is a requirement of USQ's journalism program.

This week will be a fantastic opportunity for me to gain the field experience that is vital for students wishing to pursue a career in journalism.

I've been living on the Darling Downs for several years in the Clifton area and being able to work with a small regional newsroom such as the Warwick Daily News is an excellent prospect for me.

In my spare time I show dogs - a borzoi and a shih-tzu - a hobby which has had me travel around the country winning a number of awards.

My ultimate career goal is to work for a major metropolitan newsroom or magazine in a city such as Melbourne, which I love.

I have a keen interest in politics as well and I'd love to one day perhaps be a political correspondent.

I am expecting to graduate from USQ in March next year with a Bachelor of Communications.

My study at USQ has prepared me for the challenges this week will bring and I'm thankful for the strong emphasis that the university's program puts on practical study. I'd like to thank the team at the Warwick Daily News for taking me on board this week and sharing their knowledge and experiences with me.

I'm looking forward to covering the news in Warwick, meeting some of the local people and chatting about the issues closest to them while I learn more about the town.
