Stockwell confident Dragons can help Dugan save his career

YOUNG Dragons prop Jack Stockwell believes new signing Josh Dugan can rescue his career at St George Illawarra, after the troubled but talented fullback yesterday signed on until the end of the season.

The Dragons will travel to Skilled Park to take on the Titans tomorrow, and their star signing could even play in this game, depending on today's captain's run.

"Our senior players here will move him in the right direction," Stockwell said.

"It's unfortunate (fullback) Gerard Beale and (winger) Brett Morris are injured, but that'll give Josh a good opportunity."
Stockwell, 21, is looking forward to facing up against one of his idols, former Dragons prop and veteran Luke Bailey.

"When I was coming through the junior ranks, I looked up to guys like Bailey and Jason Ryles," Stockwell said.

"I've watched him for a long time and he's always a tough opponent."

The Picton junior has also watched in awe as Titans young gun halfback Albert Kelly has fired this year.

"I played against him at schoolboy level when he was at Blacktown (Patrician Brothers College) and I always thought he'd be an outstanding player," Stockwell said.

Stockwell said the Titans would provide a massive challenge, despite losing their past two games.

"They're a quality team and you can't under-estimate them, especially on their home turf," he said.
The Junior Kangaroos representative, who is enjoying a solid season after making his debut last year, said he was working hard to keep his starting spot, despite the return of Michael Weyman.
Stockwell said his teammates had not been worried about losing their past two games to quality opponents, the Roosters and Sea Eagles.
