Stores looking a lot like Christmas
WITH less than three weeks until Santa visits every good boy and girl, the magical Christmas spirit has begun to engulf the city.
Tinsel, trees and lights are cropping up in every nook of the Rose City and Christmas carols can be heard playing at many spots around Warwick.
Rose City Shoppingworld manager Jason Gard said the centre morphed into a Christmas wonderland mid-November and it was tradition to decorate.
"We think it is important and that's why we decorate the whole centre," Mr Gard said.
"It brings out the Christmas cheer and helps create the atmosphere."
But one part of town that is still notably without any Christmas cheer is the Warwick main street. And with only 19 sleeps until Christmas morning, the absence has some people wondering whether the grinch has stolen Warwick's Christmas.
A Southern Downs Regional Council spokeswoman was yesterday adamant that wasn't the case, saying the decorations were on their way.
Miserable weather caused council to delay the decoration of Palmerin St, which the spokeswoman said was scheduled for yesterday.
The wet weather has been predicted to hang around for the next seven days and the spokeswoman could not confirm an exact date on when the decorations would be up.
Killarney's tree was erected last Sunday, Allora's decorations are set to go up today and a real Christmas tree is set to go up in Palmerin St next Wednesday.
