Storms forecast for Warwick and Stanthorpe area

THERE is a medium to high chance of showers and a severe thunderstorm late Saturday afternoon and again on Sunday in the Warwick and Stanthorpe areas.

Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Adita Sharan said residents under a storm could get 20mm rain, even more.

"The chance of a shower and thunderstorm will be lower on Monday and Tuesday," she said.

"There is a chance of hail in the storms."

There were some isolated heavy falls on Friday afternoon, including a 1km stretch of the Cunningham Highway at Wheatvale, west of Warwick, where water was running in to dams from a downpour.
