SOME came in cars, others on horses, some walked or danced and others rode on the backs of semi-trailers - but they all added to the colour and atmosphere of Saturday's Warwick Credit Union Street Parade.

Warwick Tourism and Events CEO Tracy Vellacott said she had concerns numbers would be down but a last-minute rush of entries meant there was actually an increase on last year's figures.

Forty-seven floats meandered down Palmerin St showing off the hard work of students, parents, teachers, businesses, clubs and organisations for the parade themed in line with Warwick's sesquicentennial (150th) birthday.

Warwick Credit Union CEO Lewis Von Stieglitz and Warwick Art Gallery's Karina Devine had the difficult task of judging the best floats.

Ms Devine said while it was always a challenge to a pick a winner, getting to view the floats was one of the best parts of her job.

"It always moves so fast when you are trying to judge them and see all of the detail," she said.

But it was the Wheatvale State School float that caught her eye and took out best overall float for the second year running.

"The school floats were huge. So much work goes into them," she said.

"We thought the Murrays Bridge students dressed as presents were gorgeous.

"And the Killarney School of Dance has to be commended for dancing all of that way.

"Overall it was just really good."
