Street smarts on offer

THE final weekend of Jumpers and Jazz is always a buzz, with free jazz concerts in Palmerin St and Leslie Park, but street performers have been known to steal the show.

Warwick Tourism and Events CEO Tracy Vellacott is eager to develop the talents of local young people who are keen to learn the art of street performance.

"We'd love to have a tribe of young people to help out with events in the region and I urge anyone thinking about it to take a leap into street performance," Ms Vellacott said.

The Theatre in Education program will be run by Mark Theodossiou from the Australian Actors Network, who visited the Jumpers and Jazz Festival last year as a roving Charlie Chaplin.

Participants will be able to demonstrate their new skills in front of a live audience at the Jumpers and Jazz Picnic in the Park, under Mark's watchful and encouraging eye of Mark.

The theatre workshop will be held on Saturday from 10am-1pm and 2pm-5pm at a cost of $35. Workshops will be held in the Warwick Town Hall.
