COMMENT: Strength in our region’s prize-winning exhibits

ANOTHER Allora Show has passed us, and what a spectacular weekend it was.

Across the grounds there was a boost in numbers - a reflection of a season that has shined on our Southern Downs producers.

Speaking to judges, it was clear that the quality of the region's stock is far from diminished.

If anything, the livestock continue to improve year after year - a testament to the hard work and dedication of breeders, exhibitors and enthusiasts from across the region.

From Warren and his fine feathered fowls, to the Scots PGC College and Warwick State High School cattle, sheep and goat teams - it's clear the Southern Downs is not short of passion.

The next generation of exhibitors are flying the flag with pride, guided by the experience and gentle nurturing of the generation before them.

If their successes are anything to go by, the future of the Southern Downs show scene is in safe hands.

Our small agricultural shows have a big heart and that heart is beating stronger and stronger as the years go by.

Congratulations to all the competitors, the winners, the volunteers, the judges, the spectators and the Allora Show Society for such a grand weekend.
