Striving for a place on the podium
MOTORSPORT: The fifth round of the Australian Superbike Championship begins at Morgan Park today, and two of Team Honda's leading competitors are out for more glory.
Troy Herfoss sits atop the standings at the minute, and says he wants to remain in that position come Sunday afternoon.
"I've been consistent so far this season, and had a steady start,” Herfoss said.
"I had a strong round in Darwin, and I want to build around that.
"I still need to attack as hard as possible to come away with a good result.”
Bryan Staring is currently sitting in sixth on the championship standings, and is looking for a good showing in Warwick to spearhead his campaign.
"My form has been a bit up and down to start the season,” Starling said.
"I managed a couple of podiums in Darwin at the last event, which was promising. I'm looking to be more consistent and work my way up the standings.”
Riders this weekend will compete on the 2.967 kilometre Morgan Park circuit, something to which Herfoss says he is looking forward.
"I've ridden here the past two years, and it's one of my favourite circuits,” Herfoss said.
"It's tight and technical, and demands a lot out of the rider and their bike.”
Team-mate Staring, who is entering his first competitive race on the Morgan Park track, was eager to test it.
"The circuit is a physical one, which is physically demanding,” Staring said.
"It's twisty and bumpy, but it certainly is a rider's track.
"In saying that, the level of skill at this level from all riders will make it a challenge to get on that podium.”
