Warwick East students put on their chef hats for family

STUDENTS of Warwick East State School have been working hard and cooking up a storm in the kitchen with a new Chappie Restaurant program.

School chaplain Erin Wilson put together the program to teach students the importance of cooking healthy food.

"Kids need to learn how to cook quick and healthy meals," she said.

"Everything we make takes less than half an hour.

"It also helps to build relationships and table manners.

"It's about working together as a team and getting things done."

Year 5 and 6 students put on a special meal for their loved ones on Tuesday to show off their new kitchen skills.

"It's to demonstrate to the parents what the kids have been doing here," she said.

Ms Wilson said the school would appreciate donations to help provide the food.
