Students ready to shine

FRIDAY night is the big night for School of Total Education students, with the opening performance of their annual musical, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.

At 7.30pm, the stage of the school's new Vijayadev Yogendra auditorium will be transformed with a flurry of lights, lyrics and choreography as it gets its first proper use.

Director and drama teacher Allyra Stubbings, said she can't wait to finally use the new auditorium.

"The auditorium's awesome. It's much more than what we used to work with, which was underground and much smaller," she said.

Ms Stubbings said those attending the musical will need to prepare themselves for a fantastic night.

"The whole show has really come together in the last couple of weeks and it will be a very entertaining piece of musical theatre suitable for all ages. It's fantastic. We have some really talented performers and the band is amazing."

Co-director and music teacher Colin Alley said it's events like these that students will remember. "I can't remember how many musicals I have worked on, but I see people in the street and these are the things they come up and talk to me about," he said. "This is one way schools can give back to the wider community and contribute to the cultural aspect of our community."

Lead Joseph, Jordan Briggs, said he cannot wait until tomorrow night.

"I am really excited, I have been waiting for this for a long time and I have so much family coming; aunties, grandparents, everyone," he said.

The teachers are as excited as the students, encouraging all to come and support Warwick's local talent.
