Stunned Mullets whip Marbuck's XI in Cricket Carnival
LACHLAN Gross hit an unbeaten 73 as Stunned Mullets beat Marbuck's XI by 29 runs in the Condamine Sports Club Australia Day Cricket Carnival final at Slade Park in Warwick this afternoon.
The win was the fifth by Stunned Mullets but not before some anxious moments when Shane Hooper hit out for an unbeaten 50, including successive sixes in the final over.
Batting first, Stunned Mullets made 5-168.
Gross received best support with the bat from 2004 Olympic hockey gold medallist Dean Butler who made 43 in true Butler copybook style. Butler travelled from Cairns and team captain Troy Welsh from Yeppoon.
Marbuck's XI made 139 in their 20 overs with Steve Hawthorne taking 3-25 for the winners.
In the social grand final, Digglers batsman Dion Galloway scored 101 to help secure an easy win against Dale's XI.
