Submerged vehicle a poor start to Christmas for owner

COFFS Harbour Police have confirmed that a vehicle found submerged at the Coffs Harbour boat ramp this morning was stolen during a break and enter, and dumped.

The red Ford Escape SUV was found at around 4am, and it was reported stolen - along with other items in the house - later in the morning.

Police removed the vehicle with the help of a tow truck.

Waiting boatsmen, many of them having watched the car be removed from the water, were given the all clear to head out to the ocean for the day at around 6am, after Fire and Rescue Hazmat checked for fluids that may have leaked into the water.

While investigations continue, police have confirmed no bodies were found in the car.
