Success for motocross riders in SEQ state series

MOTOCROSS: Warwick rider Brooke Williams was first overall in the women's class in the SEQ Junior MX Series.

The series was held at Bundaberg, Kilcoy, Tivoli and Coolum.

Brooke races a Husqvarna 250F under the sponsorship of ProMotion Racing.

At age 16, Brooke beat competitors in their 20s in the open women's class.

During most of her career she has had to race in classes with the boys but once she turned 16 this year she was eligible to compete in the women's open class. She has also played a lot of football in Warwick Wolves fixtures.

Her cousin Trey Williams, of Warwick, was third overall for the series in 65cc 10-11yrs B grade and third overall in 85cc 9-11yrs C grade.

The 85cc class was the biggest in the series with 47 riders competing.

Trey races a KTM 65cc and KTM 85cc and is sponsored by QB4 Toowoomba and ProMotion Racing.

Aged 11, he has been riding motocross for the past seven years and racing since the age of six.

There were three races in each round of the series with points for each round determining series placings after the last round at Coolum.

Brooke and Trey were on the podium in each of the four rounds, Trey being on the podium for each class at the four venues after competing in six races a round. Trey has now finished riding 65cc bikes and will focus on 85cc classes next year.

Warwick rider Jack Williams, a brother of Brooke, also competed in the four rounds and was seventh in 85cc 9-11yrs B grade and will be up an age group next season.

Jack and Brooke are trained by their father Andrew and Trey is coached by his father Jamie.
