Successful weekend at Stanthorpe campdraft and gymkhana
STANTHORPE Pony Club held its annual Gymkhana, combined with a Campdraft for the first time, this weekend.
Stanthorpe Pony Club president Amanda Day said while there were other equestrian events across the region over the weekend, they still managed to pull good numbers for Saturday's Campdraft and Sunday's Gymkhana.
"This was the first year that we've run a Campdraft in conjunction with our gymkhana,” Ms Day said.
"I think it was really successful for our first time.”
She said there were 42 riders on Saturday and 48 on Sunday. "We probably would have liked to have a few more competitors but with so many events going on our numbers were down a bit on previous years,” Ms Day said.
While most were from the Southern Downs, some riders came from as far as Bourke for the event.
The age champions were:
Under-6: Thomas Frey (Inglewood)
7s: Brooke Day (Stanthorpe)
8s: Keegan Smith (Cambooya)
9s: Ashlyn Stutsel (Bourke)
10s: Abby Monkton (Killarney)
11s: Lara Parnell (Stanthorpe)
12s: Louise Day (Stanthorpe)
13s: Kiara Bressington (Cambooya)
14s: Latisha Murphy (Warwick)
15s: Eliza Johnstone (Warwick)

Fastest Bar over-13s: Latisha Murphy
Fastest Stanthorpe Shuttle under 13: Louise Day
Fastest Stanthorpe Shuttle over 13: Karley Crisp (Stanthorpe)

Ms Day said the Pony Club always welcomed new members. They hold rally days at Stanthorpe Showground on the second Sunday of every month.
