Suicide bombing 'greets' Hollande

JUST hours after French President Francois Hollande arrived in Baghdad on Monday, a suicide bomber driving a utility loaded with explosives struck a bustling market in the Iraqi capital.

Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack, which killed 36 people and wounded 52. The fruit and vegetable market was packed with day labourers, a police officer said.

Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi said the bomber pretended to be hiring day labourers. Once they gathered around, he detonated the vehicle.
