Sullivan back for more Cowboys coaching action
RUGBY LEAGUE: Mark Sullivan and Scott Fisher will coach two of the Warwick Cowboys teams in the 2018 Toowoomba Rugby League season.
Sullivan was manager of the Cowboys under-18 side in the club's first season in 1986.
He coached U18 sides to two grand finals, coached A grade for two seasons, played in all senior grades and has filled many other roles for the Cowboys.
Club president David O'Leary expected Sullivan would work in well with new A-grade coach Phil Economidis. Fisher has played second-division with the Cowboys in recent seasons and is already organising his team for the new season.
"Scott is popular among the players,” O'Leary said.
Matt Grew is again U18 coach after steering the team to the past two TRL grand finals.
Sullivan said there was a lot of interest from players for the 2018 season.
"I am keen to work in with Phil who was an NRL Coach of the Year,” he said.
"We will need to have similar structures in attack and similar defensive patterns so it won't be quite as big a step from reserve to A grade.
"While it is sad there will be no Border league, players from Inglewood, Killarney and Stanthorpe are welcome to link with the Cowboys.”
All prospective players welcome at training on January 9 from 6pm at Father Ranger Oval and then on each Tuesday and Thursday night.
