Warwick footballers ready for summer 6's social comp
SUMMER is usually the time to hang up the football boots but thanks to the continued hard work of volunteers and parents the Warwick District Football Association has put together a Summer 6 social competition for all ages.
The program runs every Tuesday afternoon and gives first time players and seasoned veterans the chance to enjoy a social game at Queens Park.
The six-a-side format is played on smaller fields but provides players a great opportunity to play different positions and test their skills in a fast-paced style of game play.
Four teams compete in the Mini Roos competition at 4.30pm with a combination of girl and boy players from Under 8s up to Under 11s.
Juniors aged Under 12 to Under 15s kick off at 5.15pm with four teams taking part on the two fields.
Senior games take over from 6.30pm with a second round at 7.15pm and are open to all players Under 16s and above with 10 teams taking part.
The Summer 6 program is an initiative by Football Queensland and is a perfect off-season compliment to the regular season.
The program is only made possible thanks to the hard work and commitment of volunteers and parents who provide umpires, set up and pack up goals before and after games.
A canteen and sausage sizzle also run by volunteers, provides food and drinks at the grounds.
