Sunshine Coast theme park closing down
BREAKING: A Sunshine Coast theme park has announced it is closing its doors to pave the way for a residential development.
Top Shots Fun Park, in Maroochydore, has announced after 16 years, it will close on January 31.
Owners, Barry and Bev Higgins revealed that the Top Shots site will be redeveloped with "residential townhouses".
It comes at a time of major change for Sunshine Coast theme parks, with the Bellinghman Maze in Tanawha and the Castle at Bli Bli looking for new owners.
The Higgins have invited people to visit Top Shots during its last two weeks and also to share memories of the "Sunshine Coast icon", either personally or on its Facebook page.
"Over the years Top Shots has loaded thousands of customers onto its rides and hosted many keen mini golf players," the Higgins said in a statement released this morning.
"Many famous faces have graced us with their presence, including Wally Lewis, Alfie Langer, Terri, Bindi and Robert Irwin, Chris Vermeulen, the Curry-Kenny family and the Hawthorn and Western Bulldogs AFL teams."
Mr and Mrs Higgins said they had enjoyed many years of "listening to the laughter of happy kids".
"(We) are looking forward to retiring on the Coast and would like to thank our many customers for their support over the years"
Interesting Top Shots facts:
