Sunwater workers expected to walk off the job on Friday

NEGOTIATIONS between Sunwater electricians and the State Government have hit a brick wall, with workers expected to walk off the job from Friday morning.

The action will affect all regional areas of Queensland with mines in Blackwater and Moranbah, Bundaberg sugar, irrigators, the Surat Basin particularly affected.

The Electrical Trades Union organiser Scott Reichman said it was "a last resort".

He said the state's interference in the bargaining process equated to worsening job security, conditions and pay.

Infrastructure, including the Burdekin to Moranbah pipeline, could be affected if the union continues its actions.
