Super sprints on at Morgan Park track this weekend
HORSE POWER with Gerard Walsh
FOR the second time in six weeks, the A series drivers will be in town for a weekend of motorsport at Morgan Park Raceway.
This weekend, it is round 2 of the Queensland Super Sprints for A series drivers.
Super sprints action is what it says, sprints rather than head-to-head racing.
There is less chance of panel damage in sprints compared to the regular racing at Morgan Park. Sprints are about lap times.
As always, it is free to watch super sprints at Morgan Park.
The highest profile meeting of the year at Morgan Park will be the Australian Superbike Championships on August 25-27.
Polo weekend
SCANLAN was the winning team at last weekend's Downs Polo Shield Tournament at Clifton.
There were 16 teams, including three full teams from the Downs team. Some Downs players joined other teams.
National players Rob Ballard and Bud Sorby were part of the winning team which came from the Beaudesert area.
There will be two more tournaments at Clifton in the second half of July.
The World Cup in polo will be played at Windsor in Sydney in October and already organisers are out and about seeking horses to be lent to the international players. All horses will be put in pools of equal standards and teams will draw a pool of horses. The team from Argentina will be the one to beat.
