Superb textiles on show
FIND mystery in everyday objects with the Warwick Art Gallery's premier exhibition, Exposition.
In collaboration with notable Australian textile artists Glenys Mann and Kay Faulkner the gallery brings together artworks by 12 contemporary artists from Australia, the United States, Germany and the United Kingdom for the Jumpers and Jazz in July festival.
The collection showcases striking textiles, artists' books and small sculptures all inspired by a single mysterious image of a small glass bottle containing remnants of the substance it contained and tied with a weathered label.
The artists were assigned the task of using this image to inspire a contemporary artwork and the results are both diverse and exquisite.
This exhibition is heralded as a major accomplishment for Warwick as it is the first venue to display these beautiful works together.
"When the exhibition finishes here it will be posted to Mundaring Gallery in Perth, Western Australia then back home to the artists, so this is such a privilege for lovers of contemporary textile art and another coup for Warwick," gallery director Karina Devine said.
The official opening takes place tomorrow at 6pm.
Event is free, all welcome.
