Superbikes set to race in town this week
MEMBERS of the public are welcome to watch some of the fastest motorcycles in Australia during two days of testing at Morgan Park Raceway.
There is free admission to the venue with testing today and tomorrow.
Spectators can watch from the regular vantage points and at times may be able to have a closer look at the bikes.
The testing is a forerunner to round 5 of the Yamaha Motor Finance Australian Superbike Championships presented by Motul Pirelli on August 25-27 at Morgan Park Raceway. The Motorcycle Sportsmen of Queensland are organising the meeting.
Riders will be in Warwick today and tomorrow from as far as Western Australia, Darwin and New Zealand.
New Zealand pair Sloan Frost and Damon Rees will be in Warwick for the two testing days.
Many riders from events like in Warwick go on to compete overseas at world superbike level and beyond.
Three-time world superbike champion Troy Bayliss and world endurance rider Steve Martin will be two of the big names in motorsport in Warwick this week.
Bayliss heads a team in the championship and recently did a few laps at Morgan Park in the same event as his son Ollie.
The ASBK has become Australia's premier motorcycle road race championship with a significant following of race fans worldwide. The championship has introduced live streaming to bring the championships to a significant audience to coincide with televised broadcasting so the Warwick event in late August will be shown worldwide.
