Clown doctor support is no joke

THEY say laughter is the best medicine and the Commonwealth Bank is proud to support the clown doctors, who visit children’s wards and hospitals bringing smiles to the faces of sick children.

Warwick Commonwealth Bank saving specialist Kara Bagorski said the clown doctors played an important part of children’s wards.

“The clown doctors go into the children’s wards and brighten the days of the sick children,” Miss Bagorski said.

“Laughter is the best medicine. To put a smile on a sick child face is an amazing gift. Why would you not support such a worthy cause.”

Commonwealth bank staff have a community fund where each staff member can donate an amount each pay to the fund that helps the non-profit organisation.

Last Wednesday the Warwick branch was host to clown Zippy, who held various activities and events to raise money for the charity.

“We had face painting, balloons, Easter eggs and not to mention Zippy the Clown with Mookey the Monkey here to raise funds for the clown doctors,” Miss Bagorski said.

On average branches raise upwards of $500 and Warwick hopes to raise that amount and more.

“We are always fundraising for the clown doctors,” she said.

“If you would like to donate, we will keep the collection tin on the front counter throughout April.”

The Humour Foundation fundraising officer Ian Doig said Commonwealth Bank played a vital role in supporting the clown doctors and The Humour Foundation.

“Receiving no government support, clown doctors rely on donations from the public as well as ongoing support from organisations like Commonwealth Bank,” he said.
