Support strong for second rodeo
THE Ray Bunch Machinery Cowboys Rodeo is back for its second year, after the success of last year's fundraiser presented by Scott Keogh.
Southern Downs Ag will sponsor the open bull ride event held in memorial of former Cowboys player, Adam Merrell.
Rodeo ambassador Jessie Banks said a large crowd was expected to honour him on the night.
"Adam was well known for his toughness both on the football field and in the rodeo arena," Ms Banks said.
Southern Downs Ag director and mechanic Steve Nelson said he was pleased to be sponsoring the event.
"We've been pretty busy since we opened and it's nice to help sponsor the rodeo," Mr Nelson said.
The company that arrived in March, following the closure of David Evans, handles all tractor sales, services and repairs.
The open bull ride is just one of seven events to feature on the night, which also includes bullock rides, footballers mule ride, junior steer ride, pony bareback ride, junior poddy ride and pee-wee ride.
Those participating in junior events must have nominated and paid beforehand and must bring their own helmet.
Kids entertainment including a jumping castle and mechanical bull, bar and canteen and a raffle draw is sure to keep everyone entertained.
The Ray Bunch Machinery Cowboys Rodeo is on Friday, May 1, at Father Ranger Oval. Gates open 5pm.
