Zed Man surprise winner at Warwick Cup
FORMER Inglewood rider Glen Killen stormed home on Zed Man to win the Warwick Credit Union Warwick Cup on Saturday.
Originally from Inglewood, Killen was a jockey in Brisbane, Sydney and Singapore before settling on the Sunshine Coast.
"I have always wanted to ride in Warwick, Texas and Goondiwindi and rode in the Texas Cup last year," Killen said.
He rode a treble on Saturday on his Allman Park debut.
"I was thinking third down the straight but we got there on the line," Killen said.
Trainer Collin Williamson said he had enjoyed quite a bit of success in Warwick but Zed Man was his first runner in the Cup.
"I didn't think we could win at the top of the straight but the others came back to us a bit," Williamson said.
The win was Zed Man's sixth in 23 races.
Williamson had no doubt he could run the 1500m and is now eyeing off more distance, possibly the Rockhampton Cup.
The trainer is now based at Peachester Lodge on the Sunshine Coast after leaving Toowoomba when the cushion track was installed.
