Sutton remembers a 20-run over in Jonesy's XI
CRICKET: Michael Jones and Tim Sutton have been best men at each other's weddings and the pair will link in Jonesy's XI this weekend for the Australia Day Cricket Carnival.
The team plays in memory of Michael's brother, the late Ian Jones.
"Michael is two years older than me and Ian was one year older, I played a lot of cricket with them as juniors,” he said.
He has no problem remembering the year Jonesy's XI won the carnival, it was 2009.
"It was a great thrill to win it, back then there was no final - it was all on run rate,” he said. Garth Miller, Cameron Ryan and Michael Jones are three of the players he has shared many great memories with as Jonesy's XI.
He also played a lot of games with the Campbell twins, Lachlan and Nick, but neither are playing this year.
Jonesy's XI treated the carnival in 2009 almost like a world cup, they wanted to win a carnival in memory of Ian.
It hasn't always been wins, Sutton remembers going down convincingly to Stunned Mullets a couple of years ago.
"Steve Hawthorne hit me for 20 in one over, he switched from left to right hand to hit me for one six,” Sutton said.
He said one expensive over didn't convince him to play more golf and less cricket.
Sutton has been gradually reducing his handicap at the Warwick Golf Club and even with the pressure of club captaincy, was able to win the A grade championship last year.
He plays golf off a handicap of three, one less than last year.
"I thinking playing golf helps my timing at cricket,” Sutton said.
BEST SCORE: 40 odd
DUCKS: Four or five in 15 carnivals with Jonesy's XI
SLOWEST INNINGS: Good question, my guess is 30 odd off 15 overs.
CATCH RATIO: I catch two for every one I drop. I like to field at cover or mid wicket.
