Swap the clean up for the kennel with Lawdogs Australia
LEAVE the clean up for another day; Stanthorpe's Lawdogs Australia has the perfect way to spend Boxing Day with the family.
Nominated for a Queensland Tourism Award, Lawdogs is Australia's first privately-owned training kennel open to the public.
The one-hour sit-down show demonstrates puppies and adult dogs going through their training in protection, detection and agility.
Owner Matthew Hibberd is a former security dog handler before starting the Stanthorpe attraction.
"I saw an opportunity to entertain and educate the public while also producing working dogs for the security industry," he said.
"Our dogs are being used across Australia and the PNG, and even helped look after the Rolling Stones when they toured Australia recently."
Mr Hibberd said the show was not just for dog lovers.
"It's a very family-friendly show and the dogs are absolute show-stoppers," he said.
"We get great feedback from the shows; people always comment on how they can see a lot of love between the dogs and ourselves."
Since opening four years ago, Mr Hibberd has been adopting dogs from the Stanthorpe pound.
Lawdogs run public shows every Wednesday and Saturday at 11am and 2pm.
A special show on January 2 will give spectators the chance to see puppy recruits. Lawdogs Australia is located at 335 Church Rd, The Summit.
