Sweet and scentsual endeavour
SKYE-TANAYA Donovan lives in the sweetest smelling house in Warwick.
Her home-made soy candle business has boomed since she began it eight months ago, with interesting and innovative flavours her trademark.
"I have a hundred difference fragrance oils at the moment," Mrs Donovan said.
And they're not just your run-of-the-mill perfumes either.
Mrs Donovan's candles boast flavours like salted caramel and ice-cream, banana smoothie, brown sugar and fig, and dozens of fruit and flower scents.
"I'm going to get one called gun flint and use it for Anzac day," she said.
With two young daughters, the choice to use soy wax over beeswax as a base came down to safety.
"I looked into beeswax but I'm more of a fan of soy," Mrs Donovan said.
"With soy, you can't heat it hot enough not to scold the skin.
"If you put the ceramic under a flame, that bit can get hot enough to burn, but the wax itself can never burn the skin."
For now she sells her products on Facebook
"Hopefully I will get out to the markets by the end of the year.
"I'm going to get into soaps and bath salts.
"I'm interested in opening a shop eventually."
