Swimming club going strong as mid-season nears

FRIDAY club nights are going well in the 2017-2018 season in the Warwick Swimming Club.

Club secretary Kylie White said the club was attracting 35 to 40 swimmers to Friday club nights.

"The swimmers are aiming to record personal best times each week," she said.

"Swimmers new to the club are able to come to two club nights before they have to decide whether they want to be members.

"Club members are able to compete in more than 20 carnivals in the region each season."

Prospective new members welcome on either of the next two Friday nights and then when swimming resumes after the Christmas break on January 12.

The cost of membership varies according to age and there are discounts for children who join mid-season. Club information by emailing warwick.swim@gmail.com.

Andrew Fidge coaches many of the Warwick Swimming Club members in lanes he hires at WIRAC. He coaches on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings at 6am and on Monday to Thursday afternoons from 5pm.

Fidge is happy to coach swimmers from all clubs in the Southern Downs region. He has 30 in squad training and hopes to increase numbers to 40 during the season. Swimmers and families keen to join the squad welcome to call Fidge on 0448659868.
