Olympic legend coming Tweed's way

SWIMMING club members from Warwick and Stanthorpe will be at WIRAC on February 27 for a training session under Olympic gold medallist Duncan Armstrong.

At the 1988 Olympics in Seoul, Armstrong shocked the swimming world with a gold medal in world record time in the 200 metres freestyle.

The win will also be remembered by the hysterical performance in the grandstand by Armstrong’s coach Laurie Lawrence.

Members of the public are invited to come along and have lunch with Armstrong from 12.30pm to 3pm.

The cost of the sausage sizzle will be $2, with proceeds raised donated to Royal Life to help prevent drowning.

He will sign autographs on the day.
