Swimming Club stars create waves at McNamara Carnival
SWIMMING: Warwick Swimming Club members Tom Winter and Caitlin Skaines were two of the stars for the host club at the annual McNamara Carnival in Warwick.
The carnival is named after a former Warwick Swimming Club president and Australian swimming team manager, the late John McNamara.
It has been the biggest carnival of the year even before the construction of the WIRAC complex.
Both Winter and Skaines won age championships but all impressed in the skins with Winter first in men's and Skaines second in women's.
After his win, Winter said it was good fun to be in the skins.
"Freestyle is my best stroke," he said, which means he will always be a strong chance in an event with three races of 50m freestyle.
There were plenty of top performers in the carnival from the Southern Downs and Border area with age champions from Warwick, Allora, Stanthorpe and Inglewood.
One of the best performances on the day was three records by Warwick swimmer Liam Vickers.
