Sydney FJ Ute driver is heading to Six Bangers
DRAG RACING: Sydney driver Jeff Ramsay will be one of the drivers in action at the Six Banger Nationals at Warwick Dragway this weekend.
He will transport an FJ Holden Ute called Brumby to Warwick to compete for the first time on the Southern Downs.
The FJ was driven in drag racing on the old Castlereagh Dragway, which operated from 1947-1984, in the outer suburbs of Sydney.
The meeting is expected to attract more than 150 competitors from as far as Western Australia.
Warwick District Drag Racing Association vice-president John Loy said the Six Bangers Nationals weekend would be the only specific six-cylinder drag racing meeting in Australia this year.
The September bracket meeting will be held in conjunction with the Six Banger Nationals so it will be a weekend for everyone with an interest in drag racing, either vehicles or bikes.
The Six Bangers event was started by husband-and-wife team Mark and Lyn Stewart and has continued since Mark's death in a work accident in May 2012.
The Six Banger Nationals event is organised by Lyn and the committee of the Warwick District Drag Racing Association.
The overall winner of the Six Bangers will receive the Mark Stewart Memorial Trophy.
The September meeting will be the first at the Warwick Dragway since the winter break. The bracket meeting will be Round 3 of the Warwick District Drag Racing Association Track Championship.
