TAB racing takes Warwick to the nation
THEY'RE racing in the first at Warwick.
Those seven words could signal the start of racing at Allman Park on Sunday.
As it is a TAB meeting, the word Warwick will be bandied about on televisions in homes across the nation and in TABs everywhere.
Warwick will be promoted on the day through the work of the Warwick Turf Club that secured the meeting and the connections of 85 horses who have accepted for the meeting.
There are seven races on the card, two more than normal.
After going a decade without a TAB meeting, industry changes has meant Warwick has had a total of five TAB meetings allocated last racing year and the current racing year which started on July 1.
The track has been rated a good 3.
With current dry conditions, the installation of irrigation from recycled town water in recent years has made the Warwick track one of the best in country Queensland.
Warwick Turf Club secretary Kristen Doyle said the day was being promoted as a family day.
"We have a jumping castle and a visit from Santa arranged and marquees will be erected to provide shade for the patrons," she said.
"It is a good chance for patrons to get dressed up in their new summer gear.
"I have six bookies booked already which is good for a TAB meeting.
"A bookie from the Gold Coast will field at his first meeting in Warwick and told me he has heard good things about Warwick."
Gate open at 11am with the first race at 1.18pm and the last at 5.03pm."
Admission is $10 for adults with children under 16 free. Cost is $5 for pensioners.
