TAB takes punt on Warwick races
THE Warwick Turf Club has received great news twice this week - both with news of extra TAB race meetings at Allman Park.
That takes the number of Warwick TAB meetings in a six-month period to five.
With work being undertaken at Eagle Farm and Townsville courses, there have been many changes in the racing program this week across the state.
Early in the week, Warwick was allocated a Friday TAB meeting on August 21 and then a second TAB Friday meeting on December 11.
The TAB meetings mean more prize money, more horses and better quality horses.
Club president Phil Grant said it would be interesting to see how eight $10,000 races would go on a Friday.
"It will be good for the Warwick economy," he said.
Before this week, the club already had TAB status for its Saturday, November 15, Allora Cup meeting, the Boxing Day meeting and its February 20 Saturday meeting so will host five TAB meeting in six months.
This will be the most TAB meetings in a short time in the history of the club.
Today there are 68 nominations for the five-race Warwick Turf Club meeting which will feature the Killarney Hotel Motel Cup.
