Tailwind to return after Allman Park third place
TONY Seers is hoping Tailwind can handle his first trip over 1350m when TAB racing returns to Allman Park on Saturday.
Seers has trained in Toowoomba for the past decade and regularly has starters at Allman Park.
Tailwind was third on January 31 at Allman Park only a head and nose behind the top two.
On Saturday, Tailwind is a definite starter in the Kardinia Holdings (DL and BM West)/Warwick Daily News Class 4 Handicap.
"He is in the right class field and I reckon he can make it over 1350 metres," Seers said.
Seers bought the gelding at a Magic Millions QRIS Sale and has a best win in a QRIS race at Ipswich.
"He is a nice, handy little horse," Seers said.
Televised TAB races are an added attraction in Warwick for Seers.
"The owners like watching their horses on television if they can't make it to the races," he said.
The Toowoomba trainer has no problems with the track at Allman Park.
"It is pretty good and suits most horses," he said.
While the cushion track at Clifford Park in Toowoomba has now been replaced, Seers said he was happy to have the grass back.
There are 147 nominations in a minimum seven races for Saturday with 17 in the Class 4.
The field in the Class 4 Handicap includes two Southern Downs horses, More Leverage trained by Les Clarke, and the Len Bryant trained Tigerish.
Tigerish was second on Boxing Day at Allman Park behind Sargenolly in a close finish. The longest race will be the Frasers Livestock Transport Ratings Band 0-65 Handicap over 1500m with 16 nominations.
