IF YOU'RE stuck for something to do this weekend, head on out to Yangan for the annual Heavy Horse Day.

The day is centred around the glorious working horses and their role on the land in the 19th and 20th centuries.

The horses are always a favourite with kids, who can watch the demonstrations and novelty games as they enjoy great country food like damper and pancakes.

The local behind the day, Mick Bradford, is almost as famous as the event itself and his generosity is truly admirable.

Over the years, Mick has raised more than $5000 for RACQ CareFlight, an organisation that saves lives - including those of our own community members - every day.

Mick and those like him are the reason I love living in Warwick.

The Southern Downs is filled with people like him; those who are always keen and willing to help those who need it.

Running a day like the Yangan Heavy Horse Day would no doubt be a mammoth task but Mick takes it on every year - and each time he is making a difference.

Not everyone can host large events like this but those who head along and support these fundraisers are just as important.

So take a drive out to Yangan and support one of our own in this great cause.
