Talented riders do the area's schools proud

EQUESTRIAN: Warwick and Allora students enjoyed a successful Darling Downs and South West Regional Interschool Equestrian Championships at Dalby recently, with riders bringing home a number of individual and team trophies.

Scots PGC enjoyed dressage success, with Bridget Hegerty winning the secondary elementary class and Holly Wickham taking home the reserve champion sash in the secondary PSG class. Brooke Wilson was fourth in her class.

Sophie Brennan, Shakira Hilton and Georgia Rohde also performed for Scots PGC in dressage.

Sophie Brennan was the champion primary showhorse rider and Emily Tynan from Allora State School was the champion in secondary show hunter.

The Scots PGC team of Jack Perkins, Sophie Brennan and Shakira Hilton were the champion primary team in the showman event.

In combined training, Scots PGC rider Georgia Rohde was the reserve champion in the secondary 105cm class.

The Scots PGC team placed 3rd overall in combined training.

In showjumping, Phoebe Sellick and Jack Perkins both competed in the 50cm primary class, with Phoebe taking out reserve champion.

Pip Wolstenholme, a relative newcomer to interschool showjumping, competed well in the secondary 70cm class, and Anna Hegerty, on her first outing on a new horse, managed 4th place in the secondary 80cm class.

The highly competitive secondary 90cm class brought success for Bridget Noble from Warwick High, taking home the champion's trophy and Max Keable from Scots PGC claiming the reserve champion spot.

Felicity Sellick (Scots PGC), Abbey Grayson (Assumption), Olivia Sutton (Assumption) and Tye Wickham (Scots PGC) also performed well in this class. Georgia Rohde performed well in the secondary 1m class.

Tom Keable from Scots PGC was the reserve champion in the secondary 110cm class, with Bryce McKenzie and Maddie Mathies (both from Scots PGC) also competing in this class.

Scots PGC placed third in the showjumping teams events.

The Scots PGC primary team were the overall champion primary school for the event, which combines the results from all events over the championship.

There were more than 200 riders at Dalby.

Extravaganza on

THE upcoming State Interschool Championships will be held at the Toowoomba Showgrounds in June and July this year.

This weekend, the Scots PGC Extravaganza is at the Warwick Horse Trials complex at Morgan Park. Showman events are tomorrow and show- jumping on Sunday.

The event will attract primary and secondary students and is a qualifier for some state championships later in the season. Free admission.
