Tamara does her Rose City proud at showgirl competition
WARWICK Miss Showgirl Tamara Bondfield has been named runner-up at the Miss Darling Downs Showgirl competition.
Miss Bondfield was in a 14-strong field, with Lauren Fisher from the Bell Show Society, winning the honour of Miss Darling Downs Showgirl.
Miss Bondfield said she was honoured to have had the opportunity to represent Warwick.
"I was lucky enough to be runner-up Miss Darling Downs Showgirl," she said.
"It was a great experience meeting the ladies from the other surrounding districts that are involved and participate in their local show.
"All of the girls had great ideas for each of their show societies and how to keep it strong for the future.
"I would encourage any young lady out there willing to have a go and enjoy meeting new friendly faces, to have a go for next year's showgirl."
Warwick Show and Rodeo Society president Neville Fanning said Miss Bondfield had been a great ambassador for the Rose City.
"We're really proud of how Tamara has represented the region," Mr Fanning said.
"It's a big achievement to finish second out of all the showgirls in the Darling Downs.
"I know she would've loved to have come first, but the line-up was very good so second is an excellent achievement."
Miss Fisher will now go on to represent the Darling Downs in further shows while Miss Bondfield will be the automatic replacement should Miss Fisher pull out of any appearances.
