TANNA Alldridge won man of the match as Warwick/Southern Downs scored a 26-10 win over Wynnum in the match of the day in zone 5, under-43 kg rugby league carnival action yesterday.

Warwick and Wynnum were the only unbeaten teams after day one.

Warwick led 16-10 at half-time yesterday and did a lot of defending in the first 10 minutes of the second half.

Halfback Angus Croft dived over from dummy half to put Warwick up 20-10 16 minutes before full-time. Winger Aden Howard increased the margin to 12 with the conversion.

Wynnum went close to scoring four minutes later but fullback Alldridge made it a treble with a try in the clubhouse corner late in the game.

Alldridge scored three tries, Croft two and Harry Sullivan one. Aden Howard landed a goal.

Coach Robert Baguley was expecting a close match but was delighted with the form of Alldridge, halves Croft and Sullivan, and props Will Dearden and Brad Morrish.

“This is our first win against Wynnum for eight years,” Baguley said.

Late yesterday, Warwick beat Balonne Barwon 16-4 and leads the competition table.
