Tanna is wrapped up in Dragons
TANNA Alldridge was given a St George Illawarra Dragons premiership ball as a Christmas present, but it still remains tightly wrapped in its plastic cover.
The 12-year-old avid fan has resisted undressing the ball until it can be signed by his favourite team – and his chance has arrived today.
Tanna will be among 500 or so young league players who will meet their football idols today when the St George Illawarra Dragons team swing by for a visit.
The fan – who plays league himself, and was selected to represent Darling Downs – said he couldn’t wait to meet his beloved team.
“I’ve been a fan my whole life. My dad’s always been a Dragons supporter and so has my older brother,” he explained.
“I’m really excited to do the clinic with them and to meet them all.”
Tanna has two favourite players, Jamie Soward and Brett Morris, but suspects injured Morris may not be able to make the trip west.
If he had the chance to speak to Jamie though, what would he say?
After a slight pause he admits he wouldn’t know.
“I guess I’d just tell him he’s my favourite player,” he added.
Mum Tracy said Tanna was so taken by Jamie, he imitated him on the rugby league field.
“Tanna kicks the ball for conversions and has the exact same style as Jamie – he copies his ritual.”
