Tastes of the Mediterranean at seniors lunch
THE SENIOR residents at Oak Tree Retirement Village had a cultural and festive lunch on Tuesday bringing new dance moves and flavours to the village.
The annual luncheon is in its fourth year and usually kicks off Seniors Week celebrations.
In the past the event has served up authentic Italian dishes.
This time the lunch carried a strong Mediterranean theme.
Regional manager Melissa Luck said some of the residents had experienced tastes that they had never tried before.
"I'm really proud of this event; it gets bigger and better every year," she said.
"There's been an overwhelming response for flavours they're experiencing."
The organisers served up a beautiful olive oil with caramelised balsamic vinegar with dukkah for dipping. The seniors also enjoyed an antipasto platter, paella and an assortment of desserts.
Toowoomba belly dancer Jill Morrow, from the Turkish restaurant Sofra, flaunted her dance moves around the room.
The village will host more events during senior's week.
