Taxi driver caught drink driving

A TAXI driver pulled over by police in Toowoomba was found to be drink driving, the city's Magistrates Court has been told.

Police on patrol on the evening of July 22 had pulled over a taxi driven by Syed Kamal Hussain Gilani after the vehicle turned into Wilkinson St, Harlaxton, police prosecutor Senior Constable Des Neijens told the court.

Breath-tested at the roadside, the 33-year-old was taken to the police station for a breath analysis test during which he blew 0.104, the court heard.

The self-represented Gilani pleaded guilty to drink driving, telling Magistrate Graham Lee he regretted his actions.

Mr Lee fined Gilani $600 and disqualified him from holding or obtaining a driver's licence for four months.
