Tea Tattle touch too strong at Killarney Cup

TOOWOOMBA-trained horse Tea Tattle ran home strongly to win the Killarney Hotel Motel Killarney Cup on Saturday at Allman Park.

Mount Kosciuszko, trained by Brian Costello in Ipswich, led at the top of the straight but was run down by Tea Tattle, the Len Bryant-trained Street Sister and Cappin Jack, a gelding trained by Bruce Marxsen at Oakey.

Tea Tattle has won one Saturday race in Brisbane and was ridden by apprentice Ashley Butler. The six-year-old gelding is trained by John Dann from Toowoomba.

The second place gave Street Sister two seconds and a win in the three Warwick race meetings since the floods at the start of the year. Street Sister was ridden by Brisbane jockey Anthony Merritt.

Butler started the day with a victory in race 1, the Killarney Co-op Maiden Plate over 800m. Butler rode Starlight Dynasty, trained at Inverell by Luke Berger.

In the second, the Shirl and Sandy's Gorgeous Coffee Lounge Class B was won by the Dalby-trained Mount Morgan who was ridden by Shannon Apthorpe.

Mount Morgan is trained by Allman Park regular Matt Kropp and won by three lengths from Edge of Love, trained by Berger and ridden by Butler.

Beaudesert trainer Grant Watters enjoyed success with Mary Go Round in the Angus Wickham Memorial QTIS Maiden Plate.

Adam Best rode brilliantly from the front on the Ben Currie-trained Like A Gee Six to win the WCU Class 3.

Warwick Turf Club president Jim Costello said there was a reasonable crowd.

"The racing was excellent and the track rated a dead five after some overnight rain."
