Rose City teacher relieved to finally settle at a school
ANGIE Washbourne has been roving around classrooms in the district's schools for the past two years, as a relief teacher.
But this year, she has her feet firmly planted on the ground, taking up a full-time teaching position at Glennie Heights State School.
Her appointment to teach a Year 2 class came as the school welcomed 17 new student enrolments.
Ms Washbourne said she was "very happy and excited to be part of the Glennie Heights team".
"I'm really looking forward to working with the teachers and the families involved with the school," she said.
"It will be great to be part of a school community and watching that growth in the class.
"You do take it personally; it's like your second home away from home."
Her duties will include helping Mick Gaffney with the Friday afternoon sport at the school.
"So I get to work with the older kids in Years 5, 6 and 7s too, which is good," Ms Washbourne said.
Ms Washbourne was a teacher at Yangan State School before she took on district relieving.
