Teacher lays down law

A FEW years ago, Emily Gothmann traded her seat in the solicitor's chair for one at the front of the classroom.

Now, the former Roma turned Brisbane girl is one of the new teachers at Warwick West State School.

Miss Gothmann said she was thrilled to have landed a position in the Rose City.

"I'm finding everyone really friendly and it seems really relaxed, which is good," she said.

"Having worked at Warwick West in term four last year, I'm looking forward to working again with the same supportive team."

But teaching wasn't always the career path Miss Gothmann had in mind.

"I was a corporate lawyer in Brisbane for a short time, but I didn't find it as rewarding as teaching," she said.

"Having worked as a lawyer I realised that I wanted a rewarding job and now I can look back and know that I have done something worthwhile."

Miss Gothmann has fitted well into the Warwick community.

She has joined a netball team, and will even be in the spotlight come April when she stars in a Stanthorpe's Little Theatre production.
